Thunderbolts

I am no poet, but I was inspired to write this down. Please take a long moment at Thanksgiving to honor our soliders. Their courage and strength is what keeps us safe at night.

Thanksgiving Day

Amongst family and friends on Thanksgiving Day
We are mindful to pause, give thanks and to pray
For those who have less than what we are about to receive
For those who know horrors our blessed minds can not conceive
And we give thanks to men who hold our enemies at bay

On Thanksgiving Day with the games on TV
We cheer and we shout and follow with glee
While on the ground in a desert or in some mountainous hole
Someone we don’t know is unwavering in his roll
To defend our liberties and our right to be free

On Thanksgiving Day we take a moment to be still
We think of our soldiers and our spines feel a chill
For those horrors and pains our mind can not feel
On Thanksgiving Day  we bow our heads ‘fore the meal
And we thank God for the men who defend us and His Will.

A Poem of Thanks
